Privacy Policy

CitizenReady ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

We do not collect personal information. The app does not require an account, login, email address, or any personally identifiable information to function.

All study progress, quiz history, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

2. Voice Practice Sessions

The optional voice practice feature connects to ElevenLabs, a third-party AI voice service, via a real-time WebRTC connection. During a voice session:

• Your spoken audio is sent to ElevenLabs for real-time conversation processing.
• Audio is processed in real time and is not permanently stored by us.
• ElevenLabs' own privacy policy governs their handling of audio data. See elevenlabs.io/privacy-policy.

You must grant microphone permission to use this feature. You can revoke permission at any time in your device settings.

3. In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect or store your payment information, credit card numbers, or billing address. Purchase receipts are validated through RevenueCat, which acts as an intermediary with the app stores.

4. Analytics

The app uses PostHog, a third-party analytics service, to collect anonymous usage analytics and crash/error reports. This helps us understand which features are used and fix bugs.

We collect:

• An anonymous, randomly generated identifier — not linked to your name, email, or any account (the app has none)
• Feature-usage events, such as completing a quiz, starting a voice practice session, or completing a purchase
• Crash and error reports
• Basic device information (device model, operating system version, app version)

We do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or account information
• Your precise location (geolocation collection is disabled)
• Advertising identifiers
• Your quiz answers
• Voice interview recordings or transcripts
• Any other text you type into the app

This data is not used for tracking or advertising, and it is never sold. Analytics identifiers are anonymous and are not linked to your identity. Data is retained according to PostHog's standard retention policy. See posthog.com/privacy for PostHog's own privacy practices.

5. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:

• Using the "Clear All Data" option in the app's Settings screen.
• Uninstalling the app.

7. Third-Party Services

• ElevenLabs — Voice AI processing (only during active voice sessions)
• RevenueCat — Purchase receipt validation
• PostHog — Anonymous usage analytics and crash/error reporting
• Apple / Google — App distribution and payment processing

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
